![]() Hand-Made PaperThe art of making paper may be as varied as the different fibers it consists of. Just about any fiberous plant can be used to make paper. For example, Dr. Schaffer of early 19th century Germany found nearly a life's work in making paper from Potatoes!Beautiful paper can be made from avacados, carrots, onions, pineapples, etc. However, the use of these fibers depends wholly upon the desired shade of the finished sheet. A good many books are available today to guide and instruct the beginning papermaker, or the mere curious, in the ancient art. At Experience Press™ we make all our paper using period accurate fibers for our historic book replication. Original papers are microscopically analyzed for fiber type, fiber content, style of manufacture, and weight. With Hollander beaters, molds and deckles, and numerous vats, Experience Press™ processes the fibers and creates each sheet of historically correct paper, just as it was done originally. |
