Book Restoration and Conservation

Experience Press™ is pleased to offer world class restoration and conservation of books and paper. We believe the cornerstone of any successful restoration or conservation project is to maintain perfect harmony between historical correctness and archival quality materials. In every project, we re-employ all of the original materials where possible. We also deacidify them when practical. We believe it is paramount to a successful project that the original integrity of the book or document be preserved.

We welcome the opportunity to evaluate any book or paper restoration or conservation needs you may have. Once an item has been evaluated for treatment and requisite paperwork completed, the item is extensively photo documented at the "Before", "During" and "After" stages of treatment. A treatment disclosure "certificate" is also prepared for each item. Microscopic digital images may be supplied.

In some cases, a book may be missing all or a large part of its original binding. With nearly two decades of dedicated research, we are able to re-create all or part of a missing binding, right down to the finest detail. At times it requires the custom cutting of a new brass design tool to match the original design. Or it may require matching the color and texture of the book cloth.
